MANCHESTER Care & Repair held their first training session last week, on 27th November. Later Life Housing and Social Care Options was greatly received by the six volunteers who gave us some great positive feedback:-
“Very informative, up to date and helpful”
“These sort of sessions help to draw attention to lots of things, people just don’t know”
“Glad I came to training, so much to take back with me as a result of all information I learnt”
Karen Kennedy, our Silverlinks Project Development Officer who carried out the training, said “all volunteers were happy to share their newfound information to their friends, neighbours and family and two volunteers found it particularly interesting in their own decision making on whether to leave or stay in their own home. ”
Silverlinks will be running a series of similar workshops, and attendees will pass on their knowledge to other older people within their communities to equip them with information and contact points about their future housing options. This will mean they are better equipped to begin thinking about their future housing needs. Our aim to to enable people to be informed about their housing choices, and be equipped to make their own housing choices when faced with life changes.
